Therapists for college students near Denver, CO
We've all heard that life is about balance, but who teaches us how to find that balance? It's hard enough under normal circumstances, but when life throws a curveball that changes your routine, it can feel like you're walking a tightrope. Add other people's needs and expectations to the mix, and finding balance for yourself can seem downright impossible. You don't have to navigate it on your own - I'm here to help! Let's work together to help you become a happier, healthier version of yourself. My therapy sessions are a space for the helpers, healers, carers, and people-pleasers that I work with, to prioritize their OWN needs. At bare minimum, you can count on being seen and acknowledged for who you are, not just for what you can provide or achieve. This on its own can be healing, and will serve as the foundation for our work together. I take a very collaborative approach to treatment, and recognize you as the expert of your own goals, needs, and experiences. Together we'll identify what parts of your life feel out of whack, how you'd like things to look different, and what manageable and realistic steps you can take to get there. We'll gently challenge any thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and beliefs that might be keeping you stuck. I also like to teach tools and skills that you can use outside of our sessions to help combat anxiety, improve communication, make difficult decisions, avoid impulsive responses, and cope with life's challenges. I am a strong believer that therapy should be a partnership. Like any strong relationship, the therapeutic relationship needs to be built on trust. I strive for transparency at every step. If I'm teaching a particular skill, I'll tell you about the science behind the skill and why it works. When it comes to mental health diagnoses, we're gonna talk through it together. It shouldn't feel like the work is happening mysteriously behind a curtain - I'm always happy to explain why I'm asking certain questions and where my head is at during our sessions. In the vast majority of situations, I believe that people are just trying to survive in the best way they know how. Your responses may not be serving you well at this juncture in life, but they got you this far, and I think it's important to honor that. If you are seeking therapy, you've already overcome adversity and have some amazing resilience and survival skills. My job is to help you build upon those strengths that you already have. I genuinely look forward to working with you!

In my experience, we all need support at times in our lives to overcome obstacles, explore our choices, and to strengthen our relationship with ourselves and others. I am passionate about working with students struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship and family concerns, sexual assault, identity and self-esteem, career and academic struggle, grief and loss, and life transitions. Additionally, I have 5+ years working with students and professionals in the STEM field. Thank you for taking steps to address your mental health by looking into therapy. Challenges are essential to growth. We all face challenges. The various challenges, crises, traumas we all inevitably encounter can create anxiety, depression, and disconnection. Unfortunately, labels and diagnoses can stop you from seeing that you are okay. As you are. Your felt experiences of hurt, when processed deeply, actually lead to self-discovery. Seeking help doesn’t mean that anything is necessarily wrong. In fact, expertise can guide you through these moments safely. Through somatic healing therapy, individuals and couples will find inner strength to start anew. I am a somatic therapist who counsels individuals and couples to honor who they truly are. Together, we explore new ways to cope with conflicts, and the challenges presented in day-to-day life. Bring all of yourself to therapy. You’ll create better relationships with yourself and others as a result. So, get comfortable. Let’s find what brings you joy and helps you feel fulfilled. Break through. Ultimately, this process is about loving and becoming more of yourself.
At the heart of my work is the belief that progress begins with a strong, trusting relationship. I offer a client-centered approach that honors your unique experiences, values, and strengths. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process—it’s a collaborative journey where we work together to identify your goals, uncover patterns, and explore new perspectives. Whether you're navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, life transitions, or simply seeking greater clarity, my role is to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard and supported. I see therapy as a team effort—you bring your expertise on your life, and I bring clinical knowledge, insight, and compassion. Together, we create a partnership built on respect, authenticity, and shared commitment to growth. My goal is not to "fix" you, but to walk alongside you as we tap into your capacity for resilience and change. If you’re ready to begin this process, I’m here to meet you where you are.

Hello! My passion is working with people interested in personal growth and I strive to collaborate with my clients in exploring unconscious and procedurally-based patterns that occur in relationship with self and others. I have served as a therapist to young adults and adults in the front range area for 10 years. Before opening my practice, I worked in community mental health and at CU Boulder's Counseling and Psychiatric Services Center. I work primarily from a contemporary psychodynamic lens and utilize a wide range of techniques including Internal Family Systems, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, narrative therapy, interpersonal/relational therapy, Self psychology, and Motivational Interviewing. I am also trained in MDMA-Assisted Psychotherapy through MAPS and am a published qualitative researcher on the MDMA-AT FDA trials. I am a cisgender woman currently residing on the stolen homelands of the Arapaho and Cheyenne, colonially known as Colorado. I identify as haafu and Japanese-American and I unjustly benefit from my East Asian heritage and proximity to whiteness, as someone who is able-bodied, and with financial and educational access. My sun and moon are in Cancer. I am passionate about matters of identity, race, culture, and social justice.

College is usually sold as "the best years of your life," but for a lot of students, it feels more like a non-stop cycle of pressure. At Alpine Creek, we work best with students who are tired of pretending they have it all figured out. Most of our student clients come to us because they feel like they’re just "getting by" rather than actually living. What it often feels like: Constant Brain Fog: You’re physically in class, but your mind is stuck on your to-do list, your grades, or a conversation that went wrong three days ago. The "Social Battery" is Dead: Trying to find your place on campus or dealing with roommate drama is leaving you feeling more drained than connected. Relationship Stress: Whether it's a long-distance struggle or a new relationship here in town, you’re arguing more and feeling less understood. Heavy Weight: You might be carrying things from your past, like trauma or old family stuff, that feels like it’s getting heavier now that you’re on your own. The "What’s the Point?" Feeling: It’s hard to stay motivated when you’re dealing with deep sadness or an anxiety that won't let you catch your breath. How we help: We don’t do "clinical" or "stuffy" therapy. We provide a straightforward, safe space to just be a human. We help you look at the patterns that keep you stuck and give you actual tools to manage the panic, the low moods, and the relationship blowouts.

At Foothills CBT, we offer evidence-based therapies that have been validated by extensive research studies. Our mission is to provide our community with life-changing psychological services for long-lasting emotional health and wellness. As a psychologist candidate, I have completed my PhD in Clinical Psychology at CU Boulder (go Buffs!) and I am practicing under the supervision of Dr. Samantha Monk Grigsby while pursuing independent licensure. At the same time, I deeply believe that when equipped with the right tools, each individual has the potential to create a vibrant and personally meaningful life. I am passionate about empowering my clients to make the changes they wish to see in their day-to-day lives. I have been trained in a wide variety of empirically-supported treatments, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). I work with adult clients with a wide variety of presenting concerns, including anxiety or depressive disorders, PTSD, OCD, insomnia, and chronic pain. My style is warm, collaborative, and genuine. I teach clients skills to increase awareness of and create more helpful relationships with their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. It's dangerous to go alone! If you're struggling to cope with stressors or experiencing mental health concerns, you deserve help. Together, we can understand your life experiences so far and envision a better world moving forward. I believe the stories we love can help us heal from our real-life experiences. Stories of heroism, triumph over the odds, and simple survival remind us of our shared humanity and our resilience. Whether it’s a video game, a book, a movie, or a TV show, we can use those references in our talk therapy to understand and change your hero’s journey for the better. I utilize psychodynamic and person-centered counseling to assist you in growth. In addition to mental health counseling for a variety of concerns, I am also passionate about gender-affirming care and have assisted clients in transition by providing necessary documentation and exploring gender expression.
