Dr. Marguerat Degaard is a New York State Licensed Clinical Psychologist. Her academic journey started in Switzerland with a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Geneva. Wanting to combine her passion for dance and the art of therapy, she came to the US and obtained a Master’s degree in Dance/Movement Therapy in 1986 from Hunter College, NYC. She worked as a Dance Therapist for 14 years, developing, implementing and supervising creative art therapies programs. In 2005 Dr. Marguerat Degaard received her PhD from Adelphi University. Since then she worked in hospital settings adding teaching and training to her work as a clinician. Throughout the years, she continued to receive education and training in different areas of interest. She has been in private practice part time and full time since 2015. Her approach is integrative and flexible greatly influenced and informed by her artistic background. Her many years of work in the mental health field has taught her profound humility in the face of the deepest layers of humanity. She views psychotherapy as an in-depth collaborative and creative process which expands and frees self-expressions allowing untold stories to be told, contradictions to be bridged, and emotions to be touched or re-touched towards richer and healthier self-understanding and life experiences. She offers psychotherapeutic services in English and French. Her method will encourage and mobilize what she calls the 3 Cs in her patients, i.e. courage, curiosity and creativity. She will support the courage it takes to embark on the therapeutic journey, she will foster a deep sense of curiosity in one’s experiences that help shape one’s humanity through self-reflection and self-exploration work, and the use of creativity to allow new spaces to open and be expanded.
TriBeCa Therapy is a center for psychotherapy that was founded on the assumption that human beings are original, imaginative, inspired, and inventive. We particularly love our work with young adults and college students and are connected to issues they deal with. Issues related to sex and dating, drugs and drinking, depression and anxiety and academic pressures aren’t topics that will freak us out. We can handle it. College students frequently discuss with us challenges such as: making friends in ways that don’t involve alcohol, making friends as a person of color, navigating social situations that demand connecting with strangers (like in the cafeteria) and finding “their people.” We work to create a partnership that takes these challenges on together, trying new strategies, taking increasingly bigger risks and dealing with the disappointments and celebrating the successes that follow. College is a time when many young adults are dealing with very adults issues like sex, sexual assault, eating disorders, substance abuse, managing money, race, class, and career choices. Creating a space where young adults feel comfortable talking about these issues is a strength of our therapists and a non-judgmental stance is key. The object isn’t to insist on a particular set of values or practices, but to support young people to understand what they are dealing with and to make active choices about who they want to be. I believe that we all possess the power to make lasting changes in our lives. We just need the right support. I take a holistic attitude to understanding the challenges my clients face, including paying attention to the importance of culture and environment. I believe that change occurs when we acknowledge intersectionality, the complexity of identity, and the important roles that social systems like family, religion, culture, class, gender, and race play in people’s lives, not when we ignore the broader picture and focus only on the individual. My goal is to walk with you on your journey and provide compassionate and collaborative guidance that fits exactly who you are while helping you move towards how you want to be in the world. I work with people dealing with a whole variety of mental health and mental wellness concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, spirituality, career and personal development, grief and loss, and life transitions. I have a special love for providing counseling to international students, immigrants, and refugees. Want to get started? Email me.

Hey, there. My name is Sam Silor (she/they) and I’m an NYC-based mental health counselor originally hailing from sun-soaked Alabama. As a queer, LGBTQ+ identifying therapist, I’m uniquely committed to approaching my work with genuine compassion and affirmation. A fusion of southern warmth and NYC grit, my practice will help guide you in exploring your most authentic self. Let’s get curious together!
The students I work best with are curious, thoughtful, and often in a period of deep self-questioning. Many are figuring out who they are, what they believe, and what kind of life they want to build. Some have experimented with psychedelics and are left with big questions afterward about meaning, identity, emotions, or reality itself. They want support in making sense of those experiences in a grounded, non-judgmental way. I also work well with students who feel alone or disconnected, especially when that feeling traces back to childhood experiences, family dynamics, or early trauma. These students may struggle with anxiety, sadness, shame, or a sense that they don’t quite belong. Therapy with me is a space to slow down, feel understood, and explore what’s coming up without pressure to have it all figured out.
As a counselor, my priority is to create a collaborative, safe, and judgment-free space where you feel fully supported. My goal is to help you become the person you want to be and to work with you toward achieving the goals that matter most to you. I believe the most effective therapy integrates both past and present—exploring how past experiences shape current challenges, while actively practicing new strategies in and outside of sessions to create change. Throughout my career, I’ve helped clients facing a wide range of challenges. My main areas of focus include substance abuse and addiction, trauma/PTSD, ADHD, career and life transitions, and men's mental health. What this means is I provide support around addiction, trauma, and men’s mental health—and the many issues connected to them. With 5+ years of experience as a therapist and life coach, I’ve successfully helped clients from age 14-50 navigate ADHD, executive functioning, career issues, personality disorders, relationship issues, grief and loss, and much more. I am also partnered with a Ketamine-care practice, and along with their prescribers I offer Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy. To make an appointment for either a 15-min free consultation call or an hour long initial session, please use the link below. I am available Monday through Thursday both in-person and virtually. mindfulmentalhealth.clientsecure.me/ Insurance companies unethically force therapists to give a diagnosis after one session with a client, & they also do not maintain high enough standards of confidentiality and data safety. I do not accept insurance to avoid these issues, but I will help you get reimbursed using your Out Of Network benefits. Clients are normally reimbursed for up to 80% of the therapy cost!
Hello! My name is Lydia and I'm a NYC-based psychotherapist near Herald Square in midtown. If you are feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck, I can help. We will talk through past experiences and your everyday life to better understand what's at the root of your stress. The transition to college can bring up so many questions around identity, relationships, and self-worth. It's completely normal to feel out of your element. Let's figure it out together.
Starting therapy can be difficult, and I strive to create a warm, collaborative and nonjudgmental space in which you can safely explore yourself and how you relate to others, and work through current challenges and obstacles in your life. I am a Clinical Psychologist and Psychoanalyst with over 25 years of experience helping college and graduate students with anxiety, depression, eating/body image issues, family and relationship difficulties, trauma, identity issues, career concerns, and life transitions. In addition to my private practice, I have worked in college counseling centers.
ARTS Rx / NYC CREATIVE ARTS THERAPY, PLLC is an established New York licensed group behavioral health practice with a demonstrated record of facilitating effective and quality oriented mental health services for the last 12 years since our inception in 2011. Our main office is located in midtown Manhattan and we partner with various nonprofit agencies such as shelters, suicide prevention programs, domestic violence centers and foster care agencies throughout the 5 boroughs of the New York City area. The ARTS Rx program offers children, adolescents and adults a wide range of skill based, social, and psychotherapeutic treatment experiences in the individual and group setting. Our practice is committed to providing high standard, culturally competent and individualized care.
I work collaboratively with students who face a variety of challenges, including life transitions, relationship issues, and navigating queer identities. College and graduate school typically occur at pivotal developmental points for people in terms of figuring out who they are, what they want, and separating/individuating from parental figures. Together, we will work to understand your inner life, what works and what doesn't in terms of your thinking, behavior and ways of relating to others. Often, patterns develop that help us stay safe and secure when we're young, but would benefit from re-examination and modification to live a more fulfilling adult life. I have a sub-specialty working with people with Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), a highly distressing fixation on a perceived appearance defect that can impact daily functioning and quality of life. I help you understand where the appearance fixation originated, including negative self appraisals and rituals/compulsions that accompany BDD. Learning to face feared and avoided situations is a gradual process that takes place over time, freeing you from the hold of BDD and leading to improved functioning and a more satisfying life.

My work is primarily catered toward issues such as acute stress, interpersonal difficulties, and challenges involving mood and anxiety. While I welcome individuals of all backgrounds, I am particularly invested in working with clients with marginalized identities, acting as a welcoming ally to queer and trans identified individuals and people of color. As a therapist, I have close to a decade of experience working with a range of at-risk populations in a number of professional settings. Many of my clients arrive feeling like they move from one stressor to the next. Getting out of bed is difficult, creativity and passion fade, and scrolling on a screen replaces human contact. My practice aims at helping individuals uncover, clarify, and address substantial barriers which block pleasure and satisfaction. The work I do involves a deep exploration of historical, interpersonal, and emotional factors in conjunction with the development of practical skills aimed at fostering wellness.
