Therapists for college students near 10003
My name is Ann Schuhlein. I am a graduate intern and currently attending the University of Rochester - Warner School of Education for Mental Health Counseling. I provide a nonjudgmental and supportive environment where clients feel comfortable exploring and expressing their thoughts and feelings. My therapeutic approach aligns with individualized treatment plans and goals of each client. I am committed and dedicated to collaborating with clients to provide the necessary tools to manage and overcome challenges in a healthy manner in addition to helping clients attain the goals they have set for themselves.
Many students I work with are navigating big changes, whether it’s adjusting to college life, managing anxiety or OCD, or trying to find balance in relationships and daily routines. You might feel stuck in cycles of overthinking, self-doubt, or worry about not having things “figured out.” In our work together, we’ll create a supportive space to better understand your story, identify what’s been keeping you stuck, and build tools that bring more clarity, confidence, and calm to your daily life. Starting therapy can feel intimidating, and that’s okay. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation so you can ask questions, share what you’re looking for, and get a sense of whether we’d be a good fit. When you’re ready, I’d be happy to connect and explore how I can best support you.

Hello! My name is Jen and I am a licensed clinical social worker. I have been in the field for 11 years now. I have experience working with teenagers in a high school setting, as well as young adults in an inpatient psychiatric center. As humans we all have experiences of feeling stuck, or overwhelmed with life, or even having a loss of direction. This is completely normal, especially in our college years. The good news is, there are some really helpful tools you can learn to navigate through these challenging times, and really discover yourself! You already have the tools within you, my role is to show you how to access them in order to move forward in your life feeling confident and in alignment with your authentic self.
I am a licensed clinical social worker with expertise in eating disorders. Our work together will focus on identifying and capitalizing on your inherent strengths to overcome whatever may be getting in the way.
I appreciate the time you are taking to choose the best person and process for your specific needs. Being a college student requires a lot of difficult choices, and I know finding a counselor can be hard as well. Here are some thoughts about how I work, but please contact me if you have other questions. My goal as a counselor is to shape our work around the needs, goals, and overall direction you want to take in your life. If you have very focused, concrete issues you want to address, we’ll use a solution-focused approach to create plans and strategies for focused change and growth. If you have more broad, complicated things to address, we talk about a deeper purpose and meaning for your life that can serve as a foundation for more significant changes. No matter what you would like to talk about in counseling, we will capitalize on your strengths as a whole person to create the change you seek.
People often come to a therapist because they want to talk about being anxious, being lonely, feeling depressed, having difficulty in relationships, or having a hard time taking care of themselves and others. I aim to help people to reduce symptoms (e.g., anxiety) and, more generally, to engage in personal growth and to foster a more connected, meaningful life. I will work with you to help you cope more effectively with life stressors; in doing so, I focus on your values, strengths, and potential. I have specialized training in working with individuals with chronic illness and/or eating and weight-related problems, including adolescents, college students, and adults. I completed my clinical training at Yale University and at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. I am currently a Lecturer at Princeton University and the Supervising Psychologist at the Princeton Center for Eating Disorders. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have all been challenged in our relationships, our work, our empathy, and our resilience. I aim to help others navigate associated feelings of loneliness, worry, anger, and sadness, and I work to help people adapt to changing and uncertain times. My practice is telehealth-only; I am able to see patients in RI, CT, NY, FL, and NJ.

I offer a warm, non‑judgmental space where you can slow down, breathe, and explore what’s really happening beneath the surface. My approach is deeply trauma‑informed and grounded in the belief that healing happens at your pace, with safety and connection at the center. I support adults navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, low self‑esteem, caregiver burnout, and the emotional weight of complex family systems. My style is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to your unique needs. I draw from an integrative blend of EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Somatic Experiencing, polyvagal‑informed work, CBT, and DBT. This flexibility allows us to work with both the mind and the body, helping you build grounding, resilience, and a deeper sense of self‑trust. Living with CPTSD myself, I understand how essential it is to feel truly seen and supported in therapy. I bring experience from inpatient psychiatric settings, where I worked with individuals facing acute mental health challenges and crisis situations. I’m especially passionate about supporting caregivers and those who tend to everyone else before themselves. I offer telehealth and in‑person sessions. My goal is to help you feel more empowered, more connected to yourself, and more able to imagine what’s possible for your life.
