I’m a psychotherapist and trauma-focused yoga teacher with an approach grounded in psychoanalytic theory and practice. While I work with a wide variety of folks, I have a soft spot for artists and young adults. Although rooted in psychoanalysis, I practice eclectically, meaning I tailor our sessions to your individualized needs while offering a warm, attentive environment in which your experiences, feelings, and questions are explored. I place a strong emphasis on building a trusting therapeutic relationship with you so that we explore patterns shaped by past relationships and experiences to make room for greater authenticity and self-understanding. I don’t see psychotherapy as a way to fix or judge, but as a way to learn to approach ourselves with curiosity, and maybe even a little humor, whether this is through talk therapy, trauma-focused yoga, or a combination of the two.

I provide psychodynamic psychotherapy in a multicultural context. I provide a compassionately insightful and culturally-sensitive space that allows you to attune to your inner wisdom, leading to contentment in personal and professional pursuits. Psychodynamic orientation is based on an insight-oriented approach of becoming aware of unconscious patterns rooted in our past that significantly impact current functioning in relationships, work, and recreation. I incorporate mindfulness meditation or relaxation techniques if the client prefers. My practice is exclusively telehealth-based, and research has shown telehealth to be very useful for treatment. I offer psychotherapy via a video HIPAA-compliant platform that protects your privacy and bars unauthorized access. Telehealth provides convenience for both the provider and client without compromising the quality of treatment. It is exciting to witness the ease of mental health access that telehealth provides. Now, you don't have to limit your therapist search to your local area but can instead extend it all over the state! I hold these qualifications: I have a doctoral degree (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology from the University of Hartford, and the program is approved by American Psychological Association (APA). I completed an internship in clinical psychology, approved by the APA. I completed a formal Post-Doctoral Fellowship in college counseling. I am licensed as a Psychologist in New York state. Counseling is not just about mental health without considering physical, social, and spiritual health. It’s all connected. We provide an integrative and team approach to meet our clients where they are and help them become the best adult versions of themselves, for themselves and for others. You’re here because you know that life can be better. We know it takes a while to decide to come to counseling. No matter what that final thing was that made you come here, we want to help.
Those who seek my services are often looking to quiet their anxious minds, set boundaries in their relationships, and feel more confident on their life path. Trying to balance personal relationships with career/school, all while trying to convince everyone that you're in control and that you know what you're doing is exhausting. Life doesn't have to feel this hard! Our work together will involve identifying and removing barriers to your ideal life. Often that means learning to quiet the anxious voice inside your mind, shifting perspective, and unlearning the behaviors which have kept you stuck for so long. There’s no “one-size-fits-all” strategy. That is why I take the time to get to know you, see issues through your perspective, and create an individualized plan to help you reach your goals.
