As an experienced and compassionate psychologist, I am committed to helping individuals on their journey towards self-discovery and personal growth. It is a privilege to work with clients who are motivated to gain insight into their thoughts, emotions, and relationships, and who aspire to evolve and improve. My therapeutic approach is collaborative, empathic, and tailored to each individual's needs. I draw from a range of evidence-based interventions, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), relational, interpersonal, and insight-oriented therapies.
Are you feeling overwhelmed, sad or anxious? Have you ever felt that you couldn’t share your story with anyone because you feel that they just couldn’t possibly understand or that they would somehow judge you? We all have a story, and often we have to just push it aside just to get through our day until one day we realize that our story has taken over and is now interfering with our daily life. I will work to help you find the right tools to rewrite your story while in a calming nonjudgmental space. We will work towards empowering you to make those positive changes in your life, and together we will help you find your own courage and self-compassion to begin your journey to wellness. I often use an integrative approach which may include Neurofeedback together with traditional therapeutic approaches to provide a holistic experience. My clients typically include those who experience anxiety, depression and are recovering from trauma. As well as those issues common to college students.
Do you struggle with difficult emotions? Feel that something is missing? Unsatisfied with aspects of your life? Working together, I can help you learn to understand your feelings; untangle complicated emotions; increase positive experiences, improve communication and relationships; end cycles of depression and anxiety. Sometimes you feel the need or desire to initiate change. Other times change may present itself in a way that leaves you feeling that you have limited or no influence over your circumstances. I help people deal effectively with change. Is it time to prioritize what is important to you? I work with adults and adolescents removing barriers, initiating and navigating change that leads to a life they value and enjoy. If these sound like goals you have and you are ready to move forward we will be a good fit for working together.

I have formal training in a variety of therapy modalities that I use at various times throughout the therapeutic relationship, with you as the guiding factor. I believe that each person’s experience is unique, and therapy should be a reflection of that. Psychotherapy is a profoundly personal and individualized process. It can foster a deeper understanding of self and others, promote healing and resilience, increase coping skills, change behaviors, instill hope, create meaning, and help individuals live their lives in more emotionally honest, authentic, and relationally connected ways. At the heart of the therapeutic process is a collaborative working relationship between therapist and client, and the best outcomes are achieved when there is a feeling of connection and understanding between the two. Continually attending to the fit between therapist and client is important in establishing a relationship that has the strength and ability to explore difficult experiences and the impact of those experiences on clients’ lives. Dr. Kapadia approaches the work with both curiosity and compassion, tailoring the treatment to the individual and using an integrative approach to meet each person’s needs. She draws from a variety of therapeutic orientations, including interpersonal, psychodynamic, family systems, and affect regulation models (cognitive-behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies).

You're entering or exiting college, and life feels like a maze; relationships, family, identity, academics, career... it can be a lot. Maybe you find yourself feeling stuck, overthinking everything, or wondering why you feel disconnected in your relationships. You are not alone. I help young adults drop self-limiting beleifs and find a sense of empowerment in their true selves. Whatever you are struggling with, I offer a space to explore unwanted patterns with curiosity (some humor) and no judgment. I believe the client-therapist relationship is the most important component in healing and I strive to be transparent and affirming. Together we can explore how your past is affecting the way you show up in the world now. We will practice tools, strengthen your self-understanding and create trust in your mind and body. As a creative arts therapist of 9 years, I am trained in traditional talk therapy and evidence based art therapy. It is your choice each session to decide which we use to explore your goals. Change can feel scary, and at the same time, often leads to fulfillment. I invite you to reach out so we chat about what you would like to see improve in your life.
Welcome! Taking the first steps into therapy are not always easy. I am here to partner with you throughout this process. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I believe prioritizing mental health is key and will work to help you do so as well. I strive to create a warm, non judgmental space where you can feel comfortable to share your thoughts and feelings. Together we will work to gain self-awareness and create the meaningful change you would like to see. As we meet, we will begin to explore what has brought you into therapy. You can share your thoughts, feelings and experiences at your own pace. I'd be happy to connect for a consultation to see if we are a good fit.
As students or professionals, it is more common than we recognize to be depleted by our daily routine, school or family; to experience self doubt, become overwhelmed or to live with ongoing stress/trauma. Without an opportunity for mental restoration we can become burnt out or disconnected by persistent feelings of depression, anxiety, frustration, apathy, grief or even chronic pain and illness. My aim for each client is to help you develop a greater sense of self-awareness, balance and control over your life. Even if you aren't quite sure of what it is you need - we'll figure it out together. I use a mixture of mixture of traditional therapeutic approaches and Nature Based Therapy (NBT), done either outdoors or in combination with telehealth. This could look as simple as a walk in a park or with more, immersive sensory experiences in nature to get your body in motion and feeling more alive. The ultimate goal is to reduce stress and increase your social, emotional, and physical wellbeing.
