Many of us have been emotionally wounded by family members, friends, loved ones, co-workers, and/or strangers. Psychological suffering can take on many forms, showing up in our thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and relationships. Sometimes it can be experienced as sadness, depression, worry, anxiety, etc. This form of suffering, while painful, often points to the parts of ourselves that invite healing. And while the challenges of living with such experiences can be immense, they also present opportunities for growth. The truth is that you can find peace of mind, solace in your heart, and live joyfully, regardless of your past. I offer a caring, non-judgmental space where you can re-discover your ability to heal. Like the alchemist who was said to transmute base materials into gold, as a depth psychologist, I can help you transform your tragedies into triumphs. And like the phoenix who rises from the ashes, I can help you rise from despair, so that you can become your true self. Knowing that taking this step toward your own healing involves vulnerability and courage, I am filled with gratitude and look forward to speaking with you, learning how I can be of support. I welcome your questions and am both honored and humbled to be part of your journey. May you be filled with the peace that surpasses all understanding.

I have worked for last 6 years at Pitt's Counseling Center, focused primarily on transition, trauma, substance use and family concerns. My approach is to be in a 50/50 partnership with you, since you have the most experience with you, and I have the clinical experience and education. Welcome! I am honored to help you take the next step of your journey. I am interested and curious about your needs and areas of concern. We will create a treatment plan reflective of your current stage of growth. This might include developing concrete coping skills, exploring issues from your past, or identifying choice point for living differently. Through an empowering relationship, my hope is to help you gain self-acceptance and clarity about your life situation. I will integrate aspects of interpersonal, feminist, and acceptance commitment therapy. Through these approaches, you will feel more capable of managing your life and to develop flexibility for life’s challenges and openness to the person who you are today. My style is curious, compassionate, and engaged. I have experience working with of most ages and common presenting concerns. I also welcome those who are seeking a therapist with special understanding of identity concerns, gender and sexuality, relationships, ADHD, those struggling socially from mild-moderate autism, and those who might self-identify as neurodivergent. Outside of my work, I enjoy hiking, running, rock climbing, making art, and loving on my cats. I am currently a doctoral student in clinical psychology, am supervised by licensed psychologist Dr. Todd R. Avellar, and provide services via a low-cost “sliding-scale” basis.

Clinical Social Work/Therapist
Pittsburgh, PA

I am a licensed clinical social worker with nearly a decade of experience as a therapist. I specialize in treatment of complex trauma and PTSD, with Level I and Level II EMDR training. Several years ago I also completed an advanced EMDR training in somatic reprocessing, and I use awareness of the mind/body connection in much of my therapeutic treatment. Additionally, I have a great deal of experience and training in DBT and CBT, as well as trauma-focused play interventions for children. I also use these interventions to work with anxiety, mood disorders, and OCD, and have experience treating PANS and PANDAS. I have a particular passion for working with the LGBTA+ population, and offer a focus on the traumatic nature of oppression in my work. I can help transgender clients navigate medical and social transition, as well as write surgery letters. Two years ago I completed certification through the International Transgender Certification Association. I provide a warm and inviting environment where no one is judged, and everyone is free to heal and explore themselves in their own time.

Asking for help or support can be scary. Making that step to get therapy takes a great deal of strength. Therapy gives people the opportunity to develop effective and healthy responses to life's stressors. I work to create a safe holding environment to allow you to feel comfortable being yourself. I work with clients to help them develop awareness over their behaviors, thoughts, patterns, and feelings. I like to get to the source rather than just focus on the symptoms. I work with adults dealing with anxiety, depression, addiction, relationship stress, parenting, ADHD, identity exploration, assertive communication, self-esteem, and grief. We will work at your pace. It's about progress, not perfection. I work with you to help you empower yourself. I offer free 15 minute consultations. If you would like a free consultation, you may email or call me. You are in charge of who you want to work with. Reach each out if you would like to explore working together.

I am an LPC with professional experience including over five years as a therapist and five years working in residential treatment settings, serving populations ranging from adolescents to the elderly. I operate from a cognitive-behavioral perspective, but also utilize positive psychology, systemic, and solution-focused theories. I have worked with a range of clients, including offenders, individuals struggling with substance abuse issues, families, couples, groups, and individual clients. Finally, I have a strong desire to provide counseling services to veterans and their families, given my family history of military service. My style is collaborative, intentional, and forward-focused. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and other theoretical strategies to assist clients in establishing more effective patterns of thought and behavior. I also enjoy helping clients explore larger concepts as needed. I enjoy working with clients to establish healthier life patterns and experience positive life changes.
