Therapists for college students near Austin, TX
My personal experience with therapy, first at a young age and consistently throughout my life, is what inspired me to pursue my own clinical social work license. Therapy provided a safe space for me and a consistency that didn’t exist anywhere else in my life. My goal has always been to pass that gift along to my clients. I practice the tools I teach to clients in my own life and I show up authentically when I'm with clients. I am a therapist who is happy to answer questions from clients that will help them feel safe in the therapeutic relationship.
It is my goal to work collaboratively with you to improve your quality of life, all while discovering your authentic self, and achieving greater daily satisfaction. I believe that developing insight and self-awareness are essential components of therapy. My goal is to not only create a safe therapeutic atmosphere where change and growth can occur, but to help you develop the skills and solutions that will impact how you relate to others and the world around you. I strongly believe that change, healing, and growth are attainable, but I also recognize how difficult it can be to move forward when struggling with problems alone. In my practice, I view myself as a ‘fellow traveler’ on your path towards balance and wholeness. It is my overall aim to help you build a “tool box” of skills that will enable you to cope more effectively when faced with challenges or adversity. In addition to the individual work I do with adults, I am passionate and skilled in working with adolescents, and Special Needs Parents as well. I have training and experience in helping individuals cope and heal from a variety of issues including trauma/abuse, anxiety, or life transitions. I also specialize in providing a safe therapeutic space for individuals who identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, Person of Color).

I do trauma therapy using multiple techniques but emphasizing EMDR, the most powerful and effective treatment for trauma. Life is tough, but it is tougher when you are burdened with emotional triggers from past trauma. I love working with gen Z; you are young and EMDR is remarkably effective in treating trauma symptoms in younger brains. It is a joy to see you freed from the burden of anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and difficulties with emotion regulation. Please check out my website below for further information on EMDR.
Hi, I’m Chioma Onuorah, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). I understand that college and graduate school can be exciting, but they can also bring stress, anxiety, depression, burnout, relationship challenges, and uncertainty. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, you’re not alone, and you don’t have to navigate it by yourself. I provide a warm, supportive, and judgment-free space where you can openly discuss what’s been weighing on you. I work with students experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, mood disorders, substance use, sleep difficulties, and other mental health concerns. My approach is collaborative and personalized. I offer both medication management and psychotherapy, tailoring treatment to your unique needs, goals, and lifestyle. Together, we’ll focus on helping you feel better, build healthy coping skills, and improve your overall well-being. I believe seeking help is a sign of strength, and I’m committed to making mental health care accessible, compassionate, and empowering. Whether this is your first time seeking support or you’re continuing your mental health journey, I look forward to helping you thrive both personally and academically.
From the outside, you have it all together, but on the inside you feel disconnected. A gap between the life you’re living and the person you want to be. This disconnection is often a way our mind and body protect us, but overtime it leaves us feeling stuck or empty, in a cycle of doing rather than being. Whether we are navigating relationship concerns or echoes from the past, my focus is meeting you where you are. I work with individuals and couples to peel back these layers and rebuild trust and safety within yourself and others. Together, we work on understanding, untangling, and exploring emotions, behaviors, and past experiences and how they shape you, your world, and your relationships. We create trust and connection within yourself. It isn’t about control or correction. It’s about empowering you with the clarity and trust needed to meet challenges from a place true to you. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental environment that welcomes all orientations, relationships, and lifestyles. My counseling style is warm, collaborative, and unique to you. You are not alone, when you're ready, I'm here. If you'd like to learn more, reach out for a free consultation. I'd love to work with you. Email is the best way to get in touch.
I have experience in working with a population that suffers with chronic diseases. I have helped clients that struggle with depression, anxiety, and overall adjusting to living with vast medical issues and co-morbidities. I have helped them adapt to their new lifestyles, and helped them to achieve their maximum quality of life possible. I have enjoyed working together with my clients to figure out their goals and desires.
It takes courage to begin this process, and I’m honored to walk with you as you navigate whatever brought you here, at your own pace and in your own way. I specialize in working with clients experiencing stress, anxiety, grief, or life transitions, and are looking for a space where they don’t have to explain or translate who they are. They want to feel a genuine sense of belonging — not just in therapy, but in the world. These clients value connection, emotional safety, and authenticity. When the time feels right for you, I’ll be here and ready to support you. My approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), emphasizing practical strategies, emotional understanding, and meaningful progress. While these frameworks guide my work, I recognize that each person is unique—so I tailor every session to align with your individual needs, values, and goals. As a counselor, I’m deeply committed to creating a supportive and inclusive space where individuals feel seen, heard, and empowered. My passion for mental and emotional well-being drives me to walk alongside clients with empathy and respect, helping them navigate challenges, build resilience, and move toward a more fulfilling and balanced life. In our work together, I strive to create a space that feels safe, respectful, and collaborative. My communication style is warm, direct, and grounded in empathy. I take a person-centered approach, which means I listen without judgment and honor your experiences, values, and goals. At the same time, I draw from solution-focused techniques to help you identify strengths, gain clarity, and move toward meaningful change at a pace that feels right for you.
I love to make a meaningful impact on someone’s life. I make my clients feel understood by being present, using reflective listening, validating their feelings and summarization. I present myself in session with genuine interest, engage client in shared decision making, and collaborate to develop treatment goals.

I have over 15 years experience helping people heal from anxiety, traumatic memories, mood disorders, and addictive patterns. Like the willow tree—strong, flexible, and deeply rooted—I strive to help people navigate life’s changes with resilience, clarity, and compassion. I offer online therapy in Texas and Oregon for individuals, couples, adults, and teenagers. I look forward to meeting with you and answering any questions you have. I integrate EMDR, CBT, Narrative Therapy, ACT, DBT, and mindfulness based approaches. My approach blends evidence-based therapies with a mindful, person-centered presence, grounded in the belief that healing happens when we feel truly seen, heard, and supported in exploring deeper questions of meaning and purpose. I work with individuals across the lifespan whether it is stepping into adulthood through college, embracing the journey of parenthood, caregiving for family member, or adjusting to other new life stages and identities. In addition to this I have specialized training and experience working with active and former military, and LGBTQA populations.
Feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or emotionally exhausted in your life or relationship? Many people I work with feel stuck in cycles of conflict, overthinking, unresolved trauma, or major life transitions that leave them uncertain and lacking confidence. I support adult individuals and couples in rebuilding trust, deepening connection, and moving forward feeling more secure and aligned. My practice is affirming and inclusive of LGBTQIA+ partners and diverse relationship structures. I work with individuals who are ready to do the work and committed to creating lasting change in their lives and relationships.

You're used to holding it all together, but inside it's starting to feel like too much. You may feel overwhelmed, anxious, or stuck in patterns you can't seem to break. Maybe you're overthinking everything, feeling stress in your relationships, or carrying the weight of past experiences. I’m a family trauma therapist and I’d love to help you heal from family chaos. Throughout my career, I’ve worked closely with those impacted by addiction, mental health challenges, and intergenerational trauma. I specialize in trauma, EMDR, and working with overachievers who are ready to move beyond coping and create meaningful and lasting change. My approach blends EMDR, parts work (IFS), and attachment-focused therapy to support deep, lasting healing. Rather than just talking through challenges, we’ll gently process past experiences, understand the parts of you that feel stuck or overwhelmed, and work toward a greater sense of safety and connection, both within yourself and in your relationships. If you grew up in a chaotic, unpredictable, or emotionally unsafe family, you may now find yourself struggling with anxiety, relationship difficulties, or a constant sense of pressure to be “okay.” Even when life is stable, your nervous system may not feel at ease. Reach out if you're ready to stop just surviving through the day and start thriving in life.
I earned a Master of Science in Nursing degree specializing in Psychiatry from The University of Texas at Arlington. I am proud to say I am a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I am a true believer that not one of my fellow humans is immune to stress, anxiety, and feelings of sadness at some point in their life. We all find ourselves feeling vulnerable at times. It is completely normal to question why we feel the emotions that we do, why we seem to fall apart at times, and better yet, how we can get through it all in one beautiful piece. I think the first step to meaningful recovery from anxiety, depression, complex mental illness, and/or substance use is to reach out and ask for help. It is a difficult, but very brave action. I am not one to judge, look down on, question your past experiences, or current situation. I am very good at rationally breaking down a situation and I can offer practical advice and medication suggestions depending on your goal in mind. I specialize in supporting high-achieving professionals—especially those in academia or the helping profession (doctors, nurses, therapists, pastors)—who grapple with perfectionism, difficulty setting boundaries, codependency, and the challenge of prioritizing their own needs amidst the many demands of their personal and professional lives. As an immigrant, I bring a rich, cross-cultural perspective to therapy and a deep appreciation for how culture shapes identity, relationships, and mental health. Many of my clients are navigating complex intersections of cultural expectations, academic roles, and personal values. In addition to my clinical practice, I am a professor and active researcher. My academic work focuses on interpersonal trauma and its impact on relationships and meaning-making. This dual identity as both clinician and scholar informs my approach: deeply reflective, integrative, and grounded in both science and lived experience. I work exclusively via Telehealth with adult clients residing in GA, MI, and TX. I believe that meaningful change begins with a strong therapeutic relationship—one that offers both safety and challenges patterns by providing direct and honest feedback. If you're ready to invest in yourself and your well-being, I invite you to reach out.
