Therapists for college students near 02139
Hi. I am a clinical social worker/therapist who has been working in the mental health field for over 25 years. Throughout this time, I have worked in a variety of settings with children, teens, young adults, parents and families. I have specialized in working with individuals who have experienced trauma, including but not limited to sexual abuse, sexual assault, childhood neglect, physical abuse, partner abuse, and traumatic grief and loss. In addition to my trauma focused work, I really enjoy working with college-aged students and the many wonders and struggles that come along with this time and age. I work with students who are experiencing a range of issues from anxiety, depression, questioning identity, family conflict, difficulty with the adjustment to school, social struggles and/or in need of future and career guidance. I am trained in a variety of techniques and pull from each of them to provide an individualized approach that is collaborative as well as strength based for each client. I look forward to connecting and discussing whether we would be a good fit for working together. Please note that at this time, I primarily have day time appointments available and offer sessions via telehealth.
Feeling stuck in your relationships—whether with friends, partners, or even yourself? It’s common to feel overwhelmed by misunderstandings, anxiety about caring for others, or the pressure to “have it all together.” For many students, relationships shift fast: new independence, long-distance friendships, the challenge of dating while studying, or balancing your own needs with others’. I work with students who… • find themselves repeating the same argument or feeling misunderstood in a partnership • struggle to connect emotionally or feel distant from friends • worry they’re always giving more than they receive • feel unsure about who they are when they’re in a relationship • want healthier boundaries and more confidence in saying “me too” Together, we’ll create a space where you can slow down, explore how you relate, and build the skills to communicate clearly, be seen, and feel supported, not just in your relationships, but in your life. Because the most important relationship you’re building right now is with you. If you’re ready to find a more grounded, authentic connection—with others and yourself—let’s talk.
I’m Dr. Persefoni Andronikos-Cox, PsyD, NCSP, a MA licensed psychologist. I work with young adults and adults who are navigating academic, personal, and emotional challenges. My approach is collaborative, supportive, and grounded in evidence-based practices, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and person-centered strategies. I enjoy helping others identify their strengths in order to foster their continued growth. Life can be filled with a wide range of emotions and challenges. I have experience supporting individuals as they navigate life transitions, academic stress, anxiety, depression, or difficulties with motivation and focus. I can also support others who are exploring their identity and values. In our work together, I aim to help you better understand yourself, grow in your self-acceptance and self-compassion, as well as develop effective skills to manage challenges. In sessions, you can expect a space that is nonjudgmental, thoughtful, and collaborative. We’ll work together to identify goals that feel meaningful to you, explore patterns that may be getting in the way, and develop practical tools you can apply in your daily life. My goal is to support you in feeling more grounded, self-aware, and empowered as you move through this important period of growth and transition. I look forward to supporting you in your journey toward balance, clarity, and well-being. Lastly, I have weekend availability. Please reach out for a free 15-minute consultation!

Being a university student can be both an exciting and extremely overwhelming time in your life. Your college years are full of transitions which often come with a sense of uncertainty. Seeking support in therapy can be the first step to re-gaining a sense of control and a hope in the possibility of change. My clients often face challenges related to life transitions in employment, relationships, family life, and education. They also seek support in navigating the daily struggles of life, from the stress of media consumption to confronting the debilitating impacts of oppressive systems. I also work with clients facing existential dread, including death anxiety, as well as those dealing with illness, end-of-life issues, and bereavement, whether personally or supporting a loved one. My therapeutic style is open, empathic, and down to earth. Building a safe and trusting connection is a crucial piece of the therapy process. My approach is existential and highly relational, highlighting the importance of both the right "fit" in the therapeutic relationship and exploring how you fit into the world. Through my years of practice, I've seen how self-compassion, deep connection, and finding a sense of purpose contribute significantly to one's well-being. I will support you in your search for greater meaning, emotional awareness and empowerment in a world that can be overwhelming and isolating.
As a therapist, I specialize in supporting young adults and couples as they navigate life’s transitions, relationships, and challenges. My client-centered approach explores root causes while building practical coping skills for daily life. We may also incorporate IFS based parts work to gently explore and understand the different parts of your inner experience. With training in the Gottman Method, I help couples strengthen communication, connection, and trust. Together we focus on deepening friendship while managing the practical demands of partnership. You’ll learn tools for healthy conflict resolution and collaboration, remembering you are on the same team. I am committed to creating a nonjudgmental, compassionate space where you feel safe and supported. I understand that beginning therapy can feel intimidating, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. I invite you to schedule a free 15-minute consultation to see if we’re a good fit.
My work is relationally based, and I additionally integrate the approaches of Somatic Experiencing (SE) and Internal Family Systems (IFS), which are both mind/body modalities. These approaches have been transformational for myself and many clients I have witnessed because they offer an orientation of radical openness and compassionate inquiry about all parts of your experience.
