You deserve a therapist who understands your life in all its complexity. My clients are individuals and couples working through anxiety, depression, grief, identity questions, and strain in their relationships. Many have struggled to find a therapist who can help them feel comfortable exploring more challenging parts of their lives. A lot of my work is with men who learned early that self-reliance was supposed to be enough. I also specialize in working with LGBTQ+ clients and with people exploring nonmonogamy and kink. I want that to be a place of affirmation, not something you have to explain or defend. My approach is grounded in Internal Family Systems. I'm a Certified IFS therapist and have served as a teaching assistant for the IFS Institute. IFS meets the parts of you that feel stuck with curiosity instead of judgment. I also draw on CBT, psychodynamic, and relational work. Before this, I spent a decade in business, government, and nonprofits. That background gives me a feel for the real-world pressures people carry into the room. Reaching out is often the hardest part. Whether you're feeling stuck or just ready to understand yourself better, I'd be glad to talk. I see clients virtually across New York, New Jersey, and Colorado, and I offer a free 15-minute consultation.
You may be in a place in your life where you have noticed patterns of behavior that you would benefit from changing in some way. You may have contemplated these areas and feel like you have an understanding of when these issues arise and what has caused them, but are unsure of what you can do to address them. Perhaps you’ve found it difficult to communicate your wants and needs in certain situations. Or maybe you’ve realized that your methods of coping are neither the healthiest nor most helpful for dealing with distress. You may have even noticed that your relationships have fit into a pattern that you are now dissatisfied with. I am here to help you finally transition from reflection action. Working with me, you will work on figuring out the tangible steps you can take to improve what you would like to improve in your life. I will help you refine a skillset that will help you ensure that you are meeting your own needs while also nurturing those positive relationships in your life. As a queer, non-binary clinician, I also recognize the unique ways those of us in the LGBTQ+ community may identify and live our lives, and as such will help to ensure that the skills you build affirm your lifestyle. If this sounds of interest to you, please do not hesitate to book a free fifteen minute consultation with me today so you can begin growing.
Are you struggling with anxiety or depression? Are you proud of your achievements but still feel there is a disconnect between how you want to live your life and how things are shaping up for you now, almost like you are watching a movie or living someone else’s life? It can be hard to even start a conversation about how to alleviate the way you’re feeling, when you are unsure about how the disconnection occurred and what exactly the disconnect is. I’m here to help you figure that out. I am passionate about empowering clients to figure out their own unique truth, joy, and fulfillment in life. Therapy can be the space for you to do exactly that. Sometimes the anxiety or depression we face is a symptom of a disconnection from our deeper selves, so a large focus of my work with clients is to empower them to find their voice, their truth, and to deepen their sense of congruence. I was drawn to therapy from my prior career having seen firsthand the enormous value therapy can bring us in improving both the quality and enjoyment of our lives. My approach is supportive, curious, and collaborative so that you can explore your experiences in a safe and culturally sensitive environment. Every client’s needs are completely unique, and no one is defined by their symptoms or challenges, so I adapt my approach based on your goals and objectives. I believe that honesty and directness are essential skills for therapists so that our clients can recognize patterns that don’t serve them well. I will share the truth of what I’m seeing with kindness and respect. Sometimes this means exploring uncomfortable experiences or feelings, and I will be your partner as you come to a deeper understanding of these experiences, and free yourself of their hold on you. I invite you to start by imagining what the best outcome could look like for you, and we will go from there.

“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.” – Viktor E. Frankl One of the greatest gifts we can grant ourselves is the gift of inner peace. While we may not have control over our environment, situations, or the actions of others, we do have the power to control our thoughts, beliefs, and actions. As a therapist-in-training, I am dedicated to helping clients identify and understand the connections between their thoughts, beliefs, actions, and the decisions that shape their daily experiences. My goal is to help you turn life's lemons into lemonade. We all encounter challenging experiences, and I understand the importance of having a robust support system, combined with the right resources, time, and commitment. My aim is to ensure you feel safe, understood, validated, empowered, and supported throughout our sessions. Together, we will explore various therapeutic interventions to identify the best fit for your individual situation. I am currently a second-year graduate student at UMGC/Salisbury-Global Campus, pursuing a master’s degree in Social Work. My experience includes working with wounded warriors and NATO allies stationed overseas, addressing issues such as depression, PTSD, anxiety, substance abuse, separation anxiety, and identity struggles. I specialize in working with people who are experiencing life transitions, such as marriage, divorce, parenting, career, loss of a loved one, aging, and existential anxiety. Transitions can be stressful because it means you need to make changes in how you are living your life. I work with people who are at a crossroads of important decisions or who are having difficulties navigating and adjusting to a change in life circumstances. Going in a direction you have not gone before can bring up feelings of fear, doubt, and uncertainty. If you are trying to figure out what you want from your life, I will provide a safe and nonjudgmental place where we can explore your emotions, challenges, choices and possible consequences, and best approaches to move forward. Going through the process of taking stock of your life can often lead you to a new beginning which opens up new possibilities. With every life transition, we need to let go of a past way of thinking or being and replace it with something new. Together we can create a path towards change and healing.

I’ve always been a curious person. Some might call it nosy, but for me it’s about wanting to understand what makes each person unique. That curiosity began with my own story, figuring out who I am and where I come from. Growing up in an immigrant household as a biracial person brought its own challenges, and those experiences shaped my connection to this work. Mental health has always felt deeply personal to me. Having been impacted by it both directly and indirectly, I’ve learned to turn adversity into strength and purpose, and to connect with others through empathy and understanding. Think of therapy as a choose-your-own-adventure. My goal is to meet you exactly where you are at. Some sessions might be spent processing the pain of a difficult breakup, while others may focus on something lighter, like venting about a character you can’t stand in a show you’re watching. I value the open-endedness of person-centered therapy and enjoy finding creative and meaningful ways to support clients.
We are all hard-wired to feel and to connect to others, yet so many of us are scared of our feelings. We are afraid of being overwhelmed by them and of being dismissed or ignored by others if we share them. It is our fear of feeling and fear of revealing that causes us to experience symptoms of distress and disconnection from ourselves and from each other. In our sessions and through the psychotherapeutic model of AEDP, we focus on getting past this fear in order to fully embrace our feelings. Our work together is not about you simply retelling your story; it's about you embracing and sharing the emotions that come up as you tell it. By learning to be authentic and transparent with your feelings, you will feel calmer and more confident while experiencing deeper connections. Ultimately, your true self will emerge.

Before becoming a therapist, Kelsey had a career in advertising and marketing working for consumer brands and tech companies.
